The young women of Girls EnPower. (Girls EnPowerorporated of Durham) are inspired to be smart, strong and bold.
Through after school and camp programs, the non-profit organization works with young women (between the ages
of 6-18) in areas of, self-esteem, education, resiliency, empowerment and health. Partnered with Durham
Colleges Centre For Food, a sustainable field to fork design was established, Enactus DC developed a road map
that in just under two years, will see the women of Girls EnPower. embodying the required skills that will allow
them to design their own unique food product through recipe creation, farming and product development
training. The women will also be guided through business model training that will see the young women
developing, marketing, packaging and selling their food product. Proceeds from the sale of the product will
be re-invested into the non for-profit program. Not only will Enactus DC work to facilitate and design the
training to empower the young women, but we will work to shape the role models in the areas of
entrepreneurship, farming and product development.
